Types of Cruise Groups:
Note: Minimum age requirement for student groups is 21 years of age. For each stateroom where all passengers are not 21 years of age there must be a parent or legal guardian within that stateroom 25 years of age or over. Bonus Amenity Points- The cruise lines assign a certain number of "points" to each sailing of each ship in their fleet. The number of points range from 0 to 8 or more depending on the ship and sail date. More points are assigned to sailings that the cruise line wants to have more group space on. Summer sailings have few or no points as the cruise lines know these sailings will sell out without any extra incentive. Fall and winter sailings will have more points as these are months where travel is light. Group Leader- Also known as a "Tour Conductor Credit" pretty much all groups are eligible for this as long as they have a minimum of 8 cabins. That attained, at time of final payment the group is granted a credit equal to the amount of one passenger's cruise fare, not including taxes and Gov't fees.. How that is calculated varies between cruise lines. Some figure it as an average of all cabins sold. Others will use the category you have the most cabins booked in. The Group Leader solely decides what to do with this money. Example: Sally sells 8 cabins /balconies (double occupancy) at a rate of $ 729.00 + $214.00 taxes and fees. The Cruise Line determines Sally's Free Berth amount as $ 600.00 Apx.( this amount is after the Travel Agent receives their commissions ) to be applied to her cabin. The more cabins sold in increments of 8 makes Sally's cruise portion free. So as you see the more cabins you sell, the more money you make to create your free cruise. ( Berth monies are determined by every 8 cabins sold. ) Cruise Lines define a group cruise as a minimum of 16 people occupying eight cabins (third and fourth passengers in a cabin are allowed, but they do not count toward the total). The 16th person (the tour conductor) cruises free. However, free passengers must pay taxes and port charges (and, of course, airfare to the port, if needed). TroubleMaker Tours will work with the Group Leader to achieve the most in Free Berth monies through promotional efforts, Such as fliers, website and cruise forums.
